Linear Machining System

The Multistep XS is a linear machining system, which has the high productivity of a transfer machine and the retooling flexibility of a machining center. With the Bosch Rexroth MTX controller as well as direct drive B/C axes and a revised toolchanger, the productivity increases substantially, the company says. All axes, including the B/C arm and the toolchanger, is CNC controlled.

The workpiece-to-workpiece change amounts to only 7 seconds.

Complex working paths (including 3D machining) can be accomplished quickly with the MTX control, which reads and interpolates 2,000 numerical sets per second. The positioning phase is smaller than 250 micrometers and outlines with high speed precision. For example, the position of the axes is controlled 4,000 times per second.

One this machining system, a new Windows-based operating system makes it possible to operate the machine quicker and easier. Higher process assurance with an optimized diagnostic log function is now available from the company.
