It uses table traverse design for X- and Y-axis movement, a feature that reduces workpiece/spindle interference common on machines with a traveling column design. It executes simultaneous full travels throughout all three axes. It has high speed rapid feed: 1,890 ipm (X and Y)/1,417 ipm (Z). The 5 hp AC motor and non-slip C.O.G. belt drive provides 8,000 rpm (12,000 and 15,000 rpm optional) maximum spindle speed and up 17.7 foot-pounds of torque for real machining power. The machining center features a #7/24 30 taper spindle that is supported by double angular contact bearings to handle high thrust loads, and roller bearings for accuracy. The spindle provides dual contact of the spindle taper and flange face. The standard spindle chiller maintains a constant temperature at the spindle jacket for precision. The high speed 180-degree rotating two-pallet APC and is useful for machining highly toleranced components in higher quantities.
