Magazine-Style Bar Feeder For Swiss Machines

The magazine-style bar feeder is said to reduce channel guide changeover times to 15 minutes, according to the company. The Deco 20a accommodates bar capacity up to 20 mm in diameter bars (25.4 mm optional) and is said to offer the speed and productivity of the old cam-style Swiss-type screw machines and the flexibility and precision of CNC.

The quick-change system on the Robobar SBF-532 accommodates bar sizes ranging from 5 mm to 32 mm. It is said to be suitable for the 2000 Series of single spindle automatics, specifically the 20a and 26a models, which is offered with up to 12 axes. These multiple, independent axes allow up to four tools to cut simultaneously.

When users need to change bar sizes in conventional bar feeders, each section of the guide channel must be manually changed, the company says. With the quick-change system, which is essentially a series of connecting guide blocks that operate as one unit, operators index the guide "block" to the proper size capacity and the changeover is complete, according to the company.

To provide a stable transition zone, the company developed a gripper system, which adjusts automatically to whatever bar size is being used in the machine.
