The Hurco TM18L is a slant-bed lathe with a maximum cutting length of 79.4” (approximately 2 meters) to accommodate longer stock sizes, which are required for many turned parts manufactured for the energy and mining industries. Weighing 15 tons, the TM18L was designed to handle heavy stock without vibration or chatter, according to the company. The turning center has a steady rest to support long stock sizes, a two-speed gearbox to provide high torque when needed, and optional chuck sizes up to 24”.

The TM18L has X/Z travels of 17” × 80”, a swing over cross slide of 25.6”, and a bar capacity of 6.5”. The 1.6K spindle has 53.6 hp and max spindle motor torque of 1,252 foot-pounds at 225 rpm, and the machine has rapids of 787 ipm. The Hurco control powered by WinMax gives customers the freedom to program on the shop floor with the company’s conversational programming or to download files directly from their CAD/CAM workstations because all Hurco controls include both NC and conversational programming capabilities. The turning center promotes profitable production of small to medium sized lots of turned parts.
