The GX 1000 vertical machining center from Bridgeport is positioned in the center of the company’s machining center portfolio and are based on the P3-Series platform. The VMC features a stiff and thermally-stable spindle; a C-frame fixed column design, and fixed pre-tensioned double-nut ballscrews on all axes. The heavy-duty linear guide and truck configuration provides added stiffness, damping and surface contact area. The machine is configured with three guideways and five guide trucks on the X and Y axes and two guideways and six guide trucks on the Z axis. The 24-tool side-mount/swing-arm automatic toolchanger features random access, bi-directional indexing and 2.5-second tool-to-tool change time. Additional features include a table weight capacity of 1,760 lbs and a Bridgeport/Fanuc i-Series GX control.
