In times of increasing machine costs, it is important to increase productivity not only by the application of new materials and manufacturing processes, but also through reducing machine downtime as much as possible. To help shops do this, W&F Werkzeugtechnik developed a thread whirling unit that uses its high precision interface, WFG.

By the use of the modular thread whirling head, the mounting and dismounting of the unit from the machine and the steady adjustment are no longer necessary. Through the high rotation accuracy of the interface and the even wear of the cutting edges, tool life can be increased by as much as 300 percent, the company says.

The thread whirling head is flexible and allows the use of any insert tips. The insert seats can be made by the manufacturer of the insert tips or by the operator. Inserts can be changed quickly with the removal of three screws.
