Milwaukee Protective Covers roll-up covers feature the patented Multi-Spring Design, which uses two to five concentric springs in its winding mechanism. The design allows steady, consistent tension as the band is extended or retracted. And because springs share the stress load, they last longer. The custom-designed helical torsion springs, made of specially heat-treated alloys, provide long life and fast response. MPC standard roll-up models are rated for one million movements of the band, and this life can be increased with design modifications. Thanks to the design's build-in robustness, standard models can operate at speeds of 25 ips; special designs can operate at much faster speeds. All-metal construction and machine tool quality components ensure long life. Roll-up covers with canister are factory set at the recommended preload for reliable installation. When installing the spring without a canister, the customer preloads the cover according to written instructions supplied with the shipment. The company's design handbook allows engineers to create precise specifications for their applications. Mounting brackets can be standard or made to order. The cover is available with or without canister, and the canister comes in aluminum or steel that is anodized, painted, or plain. Band materials include economical neoprene and hypalon coated fabrics, ultra strong kevlar, stainless steel, and many others. Canister models have standard wipers to keep contamination out of the unit. The roll-up cover may be fitted with a riveted apron band when strong protection is needed for heavy duty machinery. Metal links are riveted to a base fabric, forming a band that is extremely durable, liquid tight, and with a small bending radius. There is also a choice of flexible aluminum covers in which linked aluminum slats form an all-metal band. These covers protect machine tools and industrial equipment in the most rugged applications.
