The GibbsCAM MTM (Multi-Task Machining) option introduces support for the growing segment of machine tools with multiple spindles and turrets or tool groups. This release marks the culmination of more than 2 years of focused development effort. MTM addresses synchronizing multiple tools through its Sync Manager, a new interface element in GibbsCAM's intuitive, graphical user interface environment. The Sync Manager allows multiple process flows to be displayed relative to one another to facilitate setting synchronization points. The Sync Manager also takes into account dominant tooling and automatically adjusts operation durations based on which tooling controls the spindle speed, yet another level of detail programmers would normally have to contend with. MTM-class machines not only are the fastest growing machine tool segment, but new configurations are constantly being introduced. In order to be able to support this ever evolving range of machine tools, GibbsCAM MTM was designed with extensible machine configuration capability. New machine tools can be easily accommodated allowing the option to evolve right along with them. The company says it ensures that when GibbsCAM MTM is delivered to the customer, it is completely set up for its machine tool --from the machine configuration to the post processor used to generate edit-free, machine-specific NC code. The responsibility for setting up the application doesn't fall onto the user.
