The Magafor Multi-V multifunction carbide tool is capable of performing eight separate operations on a variety of turning and milling centers. The tool can meet a range of diameter needs from 0.020" to 0.787" and also has a number of different point geometries to chose from. One of the keys to its success is the fact that Web thinning on its point geometry has allowed for extended wear and more accuracy for spotting. Made from micro-grain solid carbide, the tool is especially useful for complex machining centers and NC processing machines.
Magafor also makes this tool available with the Hard'X coating, which offers a high thermic stability and an excellent protection against heat and wear. It is especially useful for dry machining, high-speed machining and heated steels and dies.
The multiple machining process creates a significant reduction in machine setup time and reduction of operating time. Performance is improved by providing a fine cutting edge, improved cutting characteristics and superior surface finishes. The 30-degree spiral flutes facilitate better chip removal, according to the company. In cost savings terms, this creates less stock needed, fewer tools required and easy storage.
