The Okuma Multus series of multitasking CNC machines is designed for aerospace, energy and medical industries. According to the company, the high-accuracy, multifunctional CNC lathes reduce the number of fixtures required for complex part machining, reducing setup time while increasing machine uptime. The U3000 features a 39.4" bed and the U4000 features a 59.05" bed. Both are equipped with Okuma’s Intelligent Technologies solutions for thermal compensation, collision avoidance and chatter reduction.

Other features include a rigid traveling column to enable machining along the entire Y-axis, an OSP-P300S control to reduce keyboard operations by 50 percent for shorter setup times, tool loading from the front of the machine and improved spindle access to make setups faster and easier and smooth chip discharge for better chip flow.

Optional features include a W-axis sub spindle, which hands the part from one spindle to the other to complete milling and turning operations without changing the part, and a lower turret, which provides additional capacity for increased throughput and process balance.
