The PFA-1002 pump/filter unit cleans settled and suspended solids from a sump without the need to drain the sump or shovel the solids, the company says. The system is said to be rugged, easy to use and eliminates the problems caused by solid buildup in the sumps.

The pump/filter unit contains a high-flow rate diaphragm pump and a high-capacity bag filter mounted on a compact cart, according to the company. The self-priming pump pulls the cutting oil from the sump through a large diameter vacuum hose, then through the bag filter, which removes chips and sludge as fine as 5 microns and continuously pumps the filtered liquid back to the sump under pressure at 20 gallons per minute. The force of the filtered liquid discharge scours the bottom of the sump and keeps chips and sludge suspended for pick up by the inlet vacuum hose. It is said to clean solids from a typical sump in 30 minutes or less. The unit can then be moved to another sump and set up to run by connecting a 1/4" compressed air line (no electrical). With 8' inlet and outlet hoses, sumps can be accessed even in tight quarters, and routine maintenance consists of changing or emptying the filter bag when the pumping rate slows, the company says. The self-priming pump has a suction lift of about 15' and can be run dry or dead ended without damage.
