Balzers, Inc. is introducing the second member in its G6 family (AlCrN-based coatings versus titanium-based coatings). According to the company, the Balinit Helica has excellent hot hardness, high wear resistance and outstanding chip evacuation. It is suitable for all common steel and cast iron qualities, for internal or external cooling, even for dry machining or with minimum quality lubrication. Significant gains in the coating properties have a noticeably high impact on increased drilling performance. Benefits include reduced wear and high hot hardness; multilayer structure for extra toughness and crack resistance; and a smooth surface that facilitates chip evacuation.
