Ingersoll has expanded the application range of its Gold-Twist drilling line with a flat-face geometry tip for flat-bottom machining, available in diameters ranging from 0.312" to 1.012" (8.00 to 25.5 mm). The drill tips are said to decrease the number of tools required to generate a flat bottom hole from two or three to a single tool, thereby reducing cycle time. The tool geometry is said to improve chip breakage and produce high-precision flat surfaces. The new tips are fully compatible with the company's current line of bodies in the same size.

Additionally, grade IN2505 inserts are available with PVD multi-layered coating to provide high wear resistance, chipping resistance and prolonged tool life.
