Rotary Transfer Machine Offers Quick Changeover Of Bar Stock

The German built Ketterer VM bar series rotary transfer machine (available in six, eight, ten, 12 and 16 stations) is the newest product in the Ketterer VM Series family. The VMB Series uses multi-axis, multispindle and quick changeover capabilities, which are said to enable it to excel at medium- to high-volume production manufacturing parts complete from bar stock. The VMB Series is designed using slide-based CNC controlled machining units with one, two, three and four axes.

In heavier operations, the customer may choose to use these slide-based units instead of quill units for more rigidity. This rotary transfer machine can use three spindle turret heads, which will allow up to three metal cutting operations at each station. It has a flexible cartridge type clamping system. This allows the machine to be changed from collet clamping to two-jaw chuck clamping, a feature completely new to the industry. This feature significantly increases the variety of parts that can be produced using a single machine. Bar stock capacity on this machine is 42 mm.
