Seco Tools Inc. offers round insert cutters suitable for roughing and semi-finishing in face- and copy-milling applications. The cutters feature a hard nickel coating (700+ Vickers) on the cutter body, which increases protection from chip wear, offers longer tool life and aids in chip evacuation. Additionally, the cutter bodies for the 10-mm, 12-mm, and 16-mm diameter inserts have been redesigned to improve the axial support in the pocket seat and provide stronger lock reserve. These changes deliver higher reliability in the form of reduced risk of insert and / or pocket-seat breakage. The inserts feature a round anvil shape and shorter anvil height to provide additional stability and allow for more cutting edges. This design change also ensures secure locking of the insert, preventing it from tilting and damaging the pocket seat. The cutters are strong and versatile enough to handle applications including circular interpolation, helical interpolation ramping, side milling, slot milling, plunging and ramping. Featuring a range of insert geometries, the round cutters can handle light cutting to the most difficult machining in a variety of materials. Inserts range in size form 6-mm to 20-mm IC diameter with tool bodies available in Weldon shank or shell-mill style for each. Selected cutters can also be supplied with high-density, vibration-damping shanks or the flexible Combimaster connection for maximum value.
