The Index H-Ream, from Iscar, is a high-speed reaming system that features internal coolant holes with the ability to perform applications of 8-32 mm in hole diameter.
This indexable insert has two cutting corners with four lead angle options and three rake angle variations covering most material types. The insert also features carbide pads that provide a combination of economical and high precision results on a range of materials.
This line of reamers is suitable for high precision applications and tight hole diameter tolerances. The high surface quality produced by the Index H-Ream often times eliminates the need for subsequent internal grinding or finishing operations as with traditional tooling.
It is possible to use these reamers for blind, through and cross holes as well as keyways. The reamer body for use on through holes includes coolant hole outlets located behind the insert to direct the chips forward. This helps to prevent scratching the hole surface. Extra holes are located behind the pads of the inserts in order to convey lubricant and reduce the friction between the pads and the hole's surface. For blind hole applications, the coolant outlet is located at the front end of the tool, thereby directing the coolant with the chips to flow backwards our of the hole.
