Version 5.3 of PartMakerCAD/CAM software is for CNC mills, lathes, turn-mill centers and SwissCAM. Version 5.3 includes new features, such as the ability to import a 3D solid model directly into PartMaker. The new solid modeling interface is based on the Parasolid solid modeling kernel. Once a solid is imported into the software, PartMaker automatically detects all machinable edges and allows the user to easily apply tool paths to the geometry to quickly and easily generate an NC program. The interface is available across the entire PartMaker CAM suite including PartMaker Mill, Turn, Turn-Mill and SwissCAM. The solid modeling interface has been designed around the Patented Visual Programming Approach, which breaks a complex part into its most basic operations to simplify programming. Once the user programs a part in SwissCAM, a 3D simulation allows viewing of a realistic simulation of the Swiss machining process including stock motion, part pick-off and transfer and fully synchronized cutting on main and sub-spindle. The simulation assures the user that the part will process optimally by allowing viewing all operations being carried out by multiple tools on multiple spindles simultaneously. Any tool interferences can also be spotted in the simulation. The simulation lets the user set the size of the guide bushing as well as the distance between spindles. The simulation capability is featured across the entire product family. This feature is especially beneficial for multi-axis turn-mill centers and Swiss-type lathes that feature multiple tool stations and spindles as well as a number of different types of live tooling capability.
