The demand for manufacturing small-diameter parts at a minimal cost has prompted a high level of interest from the manufacturing community for the Swiss-type machine. This interest led Iscar to develop a generation of Swiss tools and inserts for the machines to fulfill the subsequent demand for more accuracy and improved surface finish. The company’s SwissCut Innoval product line is a new concept for insert clamping that can be indexed without the need to fully remove the screw. This dual direction locking mechanism has no risk of the insert or the clamping hardware falling out, reducing setup time and overall machine downtime, the company says. The PICCO ACE is another product from the Miniature application solutions line. This product line uses a unique clamping system with three-point contact for solid carbide bars. This new system sets new standards for accuracy, rigidity and flexibility of clamping orientation.
