Sumitomo Electric Carbide Inc.’s AC6030M and AC6040M turning grades for machining stainless steels feature the company’s Absotech grade coating that improves wear resistance, adhesion resistance and fracture resistance, which extends tool life, reducing the cost per part, according to the company.

Sumitomo Electric Carbide Inc.’s AC6030M and AC6040M turning grades for machining stainless steels feature the company’s Absotech grade coating that improves wear resistance, adhesion resistance and fracture resistance, which extends tool life, reducing the cost per part, according to the company. The AC6030M possesses a TiB2 surface layer that is designed to create excellent adhesion and chipping resistance. The AC6040M has an optimized Ti and Al composition, resulting in flank and notch wear resistance.

The grades have an expanded chipbreaker lineup highlighted by the EEM breaker, which provides excellent chip control when roughing, the company says.
