The Eagle Thread Verifier (ETV) automatically helps prevent improperly tapped parts from reaching final assembly, offering a reliable method of eliminating expensive rework and saving production time and cost, the company says.

The thread gage automatically identifies and alerts operators of the following conditions: thread depth, size, location, squareness, untapped hole or broken tap in hole and incorrect pitch diameter. It can stop the line or signal rejection of the unsuitable part. Corrections to the tapping process or tool replacement can be made immediately, eliminating further inaccurate production.

In operation, a commercial single or multi-spindle motor-driven test plug rotates within a tapped hole and monitors the torque. The thread gage control compares the torque values to predetermined minimums and maximums and indicates whether the holes tested are to depth, to the proper size, in the correct location and square to the part surface. Even at high production rates, the ETV consistently completes test cycles in seconds, adding no time to existing production cycles and avoiding the errrors of manual gaging and inspection, according to the company.
