The Microlution 310-S, a three-axis mill, provides high accuracy to support micromachining needs in various industries such as biomedical, aerospace and defense. With a positioning accuracy of 2 microns, the mill is suited for low-volume and prototype production. The mill facilitates speeding up the product development process by allowing direct fabrication of prototype batches from a wide variety of materials that may otherwise have to be manufactured via more costly and time consuming processes, the company says. With sizes ranging from millimeters to tens of microns, 3D freeform geometry can be easily achieved. The working volumes for the X, Y and Z axes are 2 ½" each with a maximum acceleration of 5G on each stage. The mill features a kinematic workpiece and spindle-mounting system, allowing for easy spindle and/or workpiece reconfiguration, granite support structures, open-architecture CNC and both AC linear motors and Heidenhain linear optical encoders on the X, Y and Z stages. The combination of the small footprint, simple infrastructure requirements and ease of use make the mill versatile for small part applications.
