By clamping tools in place with two opposing threaded taper pins, the company says it has increased tool rigidity and accuracy while reducing system cost. Its runout precision of 2 microns is the result of the symmetrical, center-on clamping onto the whole tool taper as well as on the flange. Also, the tool is always directly on the axis.

The new system, called WFU-System Tools, is a flexible quick change system that allows the same tools to be used in many areas of the shop, including mills, lathes, and more. It reduces machine downtime because setups and presetting of all tools can be done offline.

The short connection length of the master shanks and adapters is said to work well with standard and long tools. The slim design is helpful when narrow and/or deep drilling are required, the company says.
