The Goodway GS-4000YS turning center combines extremely high power, a super high rigid body and faster machining features for those seeking a heavy duty maximum performing turning center. This machine offers turning power of 37 kW (30 min), 12 stations, 12 live servo indexing turrets with 1” OD and 2” ID tooling, ER-40 live tooling, 7.4-hp built-in type motor, and max live tooling speed of 6,000 rpm. Two-speed gear head spindles are standard to easily turn workpieces as large as 24” diameter and to accommodate various workpiece lengths, four bed sizing. The Y axis and subspindle further increase machining efficiency and accuracy while reducing manpower. Live tooling turret for the Y-axis machine is equipped with 5.5 kW output, high precision built-in spindle turret. The turret is mounted on a secondary 30-degree wedge saddle on top of the X-axis slide. The Y-axis control further enhances multitasking live tooling capabilities and improves various machining precision. High precision grooving and X-axis off-center drilling are enabled. Both X and Y axis have extra wide hardened and ground boxways, which are directly formed onto saddles during the casting process.

Built to endure years of rigorous high production turning, the heavily ribbed, one-piece thermally balanced bed and casting components are of FC35-Meehanite casting (industry standard is FC25~30). FC35 grade cast iron is capable of withstanding much greater stress without deforming and provides maximum vibration dampening. Finite Element Methods (FEM), optimal reinforced ribbings are directly cast into the one-piece bed structure. Mechanical rigidity has been increased by more than 30 percent when compared with conventional designs. Plus, pretension on all axes minimizes thermal distortion. Extra wide hardened and ground boxways are directly formed into the machine bed and saddle during the casting process. The boxway design also provides the rigidity needed for heave duty and interrupted turning applications, the company says.
