Davenport Machine Tool Company was founded in 1894 by Mr. William Simeon Davenport in New Bedford, Mass. Initially producing clock pinion turning machines, the company progressed into the manufacture of intricate multiple spindle automatic bar machines. Mr. Davenport filed Davenport Machine as a corporation in 1919. As the business grew, the company began searching for a more central geographic location between the strong Midwestern and New England markets of the time. Later that year, the company established its new headquarters at its present location in Rochester, New York.

The new High Precision Orientation attachment for the Davenport HP has the flexibility to eliminate the need for two of the most commonly used attachments: the 1380-S revinloc attachment and MBSL-200-SA, 180 degree spindle locating attachment. New Features For Multi-Spindle Machine
Davenport Machine offers new features for its HP machine. The controls package has moved to a more ergonomic position and comes prewired to the machine. The coolant pump is located off the floor, multiple emergency stops were added and an additional viewing window is now in place.
Multi-Spindle Machine Undergoes Changes
The Davenport HP multi-spindle machine rolls out its fourth major product enhancement to meet the evolving demands in high-speed machining. For easier interaction, the Man-Machine-Interface (MMI) has been mounted on a waist-high pendant system that allows the operator to use the interface at the front, end or back of the machine. The upgraded sound enclosure has more windows to increase visibility of the machine while it is running.
High-Precision Orientation Attachment For Davenports
Davenport's High-Precision Orientation (HPO) attachment has the flexibility to eliminate the need for two of the most commonly used attachments: the 1380-SA Revinloc attachment and MBSL-200-SA 1800 spindle locating attachment (also the MB-2-SL-SA, 360-degree locator). This orientation optional attachment can be used in either the third or fourth position individually or both positions simultaneously. The HPO can be used to produce slots or flats on a part at 90 degrees apart (four tooth), 120 degrees apart (six tooth) and 45 degrees apart (eight tooth).

Quick-Change Tool Spindle Box
The quick-change tool spindle front box from Davenport Machine was developed in conjunction with Davenport customers to cut hours off of every setup requiring a tool spindle change. The quick-change box allows the steel outer housing to be aligned and installed once, and interchangeable bronze liners can then be swapped in less than a minute. Changing from a stationary spindle to a revolving spindle or to a broaching spindle can be done without disturbing the spindle alignment.

Coated Heads Show Zero Wear
The New Davenport coated head shows zero wear after producing one million parts in a test run on a customer's machines, the company says. Now, the same extended wear life found on the HP revolving head is available on standard 8-SA heads with standard spindles. Using a metallic hard-coating material on the bearing diameter bands, the 8-SA head has less friction and less wear.
