Minute Man broach sets will cut any standard keyway in about 1 minute. To cut a keyway using this method, The duMont Corporation suggests placing a bushing in the bore of a pulley, gear, collar or similar workpiece; then slip a broach of the right keyway size in the slot in the bushing, and press the broach through with an arbor press of the type found in any shop. The total time is about 1 minute compared to almost an hour for setting up a shaper to do the same job.

Designed to cut ISO-standard metric keyways in the more commonly encountered metric size bores, the Minute Man No. 80 keyway broach set will handle a range of keyway cutting in machine maintenance, erection or parts production work. It contains three broaches and 12 bushings, which can be used interchangeably to cut 10-, 12- or 14-mm keyways in 12 bore sizes from 32 mm to 52 mm--a total of 36 keyway/bore combinations.

A heavy-duty set of keyway broaches, bushings and shims designed for cutting a complete range of keyways from 1/8" to 3/4" without duplication is now offered by The duMont Corporation. Available off-the-shelf from local industrial distributor stock, the 100 Heavy-Duty Combination Set is the most complete Minute Man broach set available. It can be used in virtually all standard broaching operations to cut keyways in pulley's gears, collars and similar assembly or limited production work.

A complete set of high speed steel broaches, bushings and necessary shims capable of cutting 1/16", 3/32" and 1/8" keyways in five bore sizes from 1/4" to 1/2" is now being marketed by the company. Precision set has three broaches and five bushings that allow cutting of 15 keyway combinations in maintenance, repair or production of parts requiring small keyways. These Minute Man push-type broaches are available from stock and can be used with any type hydraulic or hand-operated arbor press with adequate throat opening.
