CNC Software, Inc. is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art software tools for CAD/CAM manufacturing markets. Our goal is to provide superior software products based on our users' needs to solve simple to complex design and machining problems. In addition to providing the software, it is also our goal to provide exceptional service and support to our customers. Founded in 1984, CNC Software is one of the oldest companies in the PC-based CAD/CAM industry. The company was built on the concept of providing an inexpensive PC-based CAM system at a time when most other systems were expensive CAD oriented products. CNC Software was one of the first companies to introduce CAD/CAM software designed for the machinist and the engineer, providing a practical solution to both markets. The original version of Mastercam was founded in two-dimensional (2D) CAM. Mastercam was one of the first micro-based CAM packages to include CAD capabilities which allowed the user to construct his or her own parts quickly and easily. Shortly after CNC Software got its start in Massachusetts, the company moved its base of operation to an office in Vernon, Connecticut. Today, the CNC Software corporate headquarters and training facility is located in a company- owned 40,000 sq. ft. building in Tolland, Connecticut, midway between Boston and New York City. In addition to over 85 employees working at the corporate facility, CNC Software also has an office in the state of Washington dedicated to the educational market. The real backbone of the 80,000 installation-strong Mastercam community is our global dealer network. Some of these experts have been with CNC Software since the very beginning. They’ve helped build shops from the ground up, and have a true “partnership” with our customers, offering advice, strategy and experience to Mastercam users around the world. As an industry leader for over fifteen years, CNC Software prides itself on meeting the demanding needs of its customers by providing excellent products at affordable prices. We stick to our strategy of combining the best software programming with practical shop floor experience. We have remained at the forefront of CAD/CAM technology by listening to our customers' needs, being accessible, and most of all, being dedicated to them. CNC Software has provided CAD/CAM solutions to over 80,000 installations worldwide in mold making, automotive, aerospace, and consumer industries.

The X5 version of the company’s CAD/CAM software introduces significant new capabilities, including new dynamic milling techniques, multi-axis machining, Smart Hybrid Finishing and more.
Mastercam’s multi-axis machining offers a range of multi-axis machining strategies, both basic and advanced.
Dynamic Machining software creates a constantly adapting toolpath that delivers more consistent cutting conditions and allows use of the entire tool flute length, often eliminating the need for multiple depth cuts, according to the company.

Mastercam X4 Lathe, from CNC Software, includes a suite of CAD/CAM tools focused on delivering speed and efficiency for machining jobs. From roughing and finishing to easy grooving and threading, the software has been designed to reduce programmer interaction and increase machining flexibility.
A recent study showed that mechanical SuperTuning of a moderately priced CNC machine could dramatically improve volumetric positioning accuracy.
Mastercam’s X3, high speed machining is now available in a suite of 2D high speed toolpaths. The six 2D toolpaths—peel mill, core mill, area mill, rest mill, blend mill, and facing—are optimized for high speed machining and hard milling.
Mastercam for SolidWorks is fully integrated CAM that runs seamlessly in SolidWorks. SolidWorks users can now program their parts directly within the program using Mastercam’s tool paths and machining strategies. It includes a suite of cutting strategies, including feature based machining (FBM) and 3D high-speed machining tool paths.
CNC Software’s Mastercam X3 offers expanded machining flexibility and an increased emphasis on speed and automation. Feature based machining (FBM), new high-speed tool motion, and faster toolpath generation combine with dozens of additional enhancements in a package intended to improve shopfloor productivity. Valuable for experienced power users and easy enough for new users, FBM evaluates a part’s features and automatically designs an effective machining strategy.
Cutting air benefits no one. Eliminate it in the programming department.
Mastercam X2 CAD/CAM software has been certified for Autodesk Inventor 2009 software by the Certified Applications Program. To be certified, the product must meet certain guidelines and demonstrate a high level of quality as well as compatibility with Autodesk Inventor. Certification is given only after the product
Mastercam's Feature Based Machining (FBM) evaluates a part's features and automatically designs an effective machining strategy. With just a few clicks, FBM will detect solid machining features for the chosen FBM operation type, based on selection criteria; machine pockets using 2D roughing, rest mill and finish operations; automatically support closed, open, nested and through pockets and set the right toolpath options; optionally create a separate finish tool path for floors and walls; automatically identify when external machining is required and enable users to activate or deactivate it; automatically identify when facing is required; automatically create drilled, tapped, counterbore and countersink holes; automatically perform deep drilling, spot drilling, pre-drilling, tool selection and tool creation if needed.
Mastercam's Feature Based Machining (FBM) automates the machining process. This offers shops speed improvements and allows for reductions in programming time.

The program automatically evaluates the part and program pockets, contours, bosses and drilling routines with minimal user input.
CNC Software's Mastercam X2's Maintenance Release (MR2). This release is available to all Maintenance customers and all new Mastercam customers. It introduces new capabilities, including new and improved toolpaths for high-speed machining, multi-axis enhancements, and more.
CNC Software has released Mastercam X2’s Maintenance Release (MR1), available to all Maintenance customers and all new Mastercam customers. The capabilities include improved tool paths for high speed machining, multi-axis enhancements and more. The high speed machining pencil tool path has been enhanced to provide smoother motion with fewer retracts when used with rest material.
Here is a CAD/CAM system designed to be inviting to programmers, with a comfortable interface, integrated guides and a learning mode to facilitate operation and allow the shop to start creating tool paths—and turning parts—as quickly as possible.
Mastercam X2 offers newly added tool paths that expand the range of toolpath style choices and provide unique capabilities to machine a variety of conditions that might be encountered in a daily job. High-speed and multi-axis tool paths are examples of the new advanced tool paths implemented. These tool paths use a "smart" interface that customizes itself to the selected machining strategy, making it easier for the user to tightly control the machining process, the company says.
Mastercam X Maintenance Release 2 (MR2) software offers multi-axis tool paths, X Art and more. An engine on the multi-axis tool path provides a customized, streamlined interface that is fine-tuned to specific applications, such as impellers and turbine blades. Depending on what tool path is being used, the company’s parameter pages display parameters applicable to the specific tool path type.
Mastercam X’s latest maintenance release, MR1, includes various new capabilities, such as added high speed machining tool paths, holder definition and more. Seven high speed surface machining (HST) tool paths—two roughing and five finishing paths—have been incorporated into the release, including an interface for toolpath creation. These added types are tailored to high speed machining while offering smooth cutting motion and smooth entry/exits, says CNC Software.
Mastercam X has been designed to reduce programmer interaction and increase machining flexibility. It features a streamlined customizable interface. Specially designed to minimize user interaction while maximizing programming options, the interface is completely customizable and can be set to each person's specific preferences.
The new Automatic Toolpathing (ATP) add-on, free to all Mastercam users, automates repetitive programming tasks by allowing a user to link cutting strategies to specific levels or layers containing geometry. The program allows a user to choose machining strategies that will automatically be applied to any geometry on a specific layer or level. When selected, the program will automatically scan each layer or level and program them with the toolpath types the user chooses.
Mastercam Version 8.1, which improves on the success of Version 8, features all-new verification, automatic stock recognition in Mastercam Lathe, and full associativity in Mastercam Wire. Version 8.1 incorporates a new solid-model verifier from LightWork Design LTD in all its CAM products. The new verification is th
