As seen in PM

CBN Grade for Hardened Steel
Specifically designed for turning die steels and bearing steels with hardnesses of 50 HRc and higher, the BN2000 provides high wear resistance and robust toughness.

Coated Carbide Turning Grade for Cast Iron Roughing
ISO classified as a K20 grade, the AC420K is designed to perform exceptionally well in cast iron roughing applications involving medium to heavy interruptions.

Turning of Steels and Stainless Steels
The Super FF (Fine and Flat) coating on the company’s new insert grades, AC820P and AC830P, is wear resistant and reduces the possibility of chip adhesion because of its smoothness.

Indexable Drill for Large-Diameter Hole Drilling
The WDX indexable drill series from Sumitomo Electric Carbide Inc. for large-diameter hole drilling not only accurately drills holes, but can also perform operations such as turning and boring, the company says.

Grade Achieves Interrupted Steel Turning
The AC830P for interrupted steel turning by Sumitomo Electric Carbide combines a tough substrate with a newly designed Super FF coating structure to substantially increase the wear resistance compared to conventional P30 material grades. The grade's wear resistance not only exceeds conventional P30 coated carbide g

Grades For Turning Exotic Materials
The Super ZX multi-layered coating on the new grades AC510U and AC520U make them especially useful for roughing, finishing and medium cut machining of super alloy materials. The coating consists of ultra-thin layers of TiAlN and AlCrN, alternately stacked up to 1,000 layers.

High-Speed Cast Iron Turning
Sumitomo's AC401K grade consists of two types of coating layers--the Super FF Alumina layer and the Super FF TiCN layer--both of which provide excellent peeling resistance and improved overall insert stability, the company says. Its ultra-thick, inner Alumina layer is designed to provide thermal resistance, while the outer TiCN layer is designed to excel in chipping resistance. The grade combines these coatings with a hard carbide substrate, resulting in excellent wear resistance in continuous to light interrupted machining of gray and ductile cast iron.

Versatile Coated Carbide Grade
The YB100 coated carbide grade from Sumitomo features a unique substrate, edge honing and fine TiCN CVD coating. The grade can go from YB100 can go from finish turning steels and stainless steels to roughing cast iron. The qualities of this grade also contribute to its longer life, increased productivity and smooth surface finishes, according to the company.

Grades Turn Stainless Steel And Steel With Precision
Featuring polished insert faces and cutting edges, Sumitomo's AC610M and AC630M grades combine advanced substrates and wear-resistant Al2O3 and TiCN coatings for longer tool life and increased productivity, the company says. An excellent choice for the general cutting of stainless steel, the AC630M offers exceptional peeling and notch wear resistance, according to the company. Featuring plastic deformation control and wear resistance, the AC610M is especially good for applications requiring high-speed and high-efficiency cutting.

Anti-Vibration Boring Bars
Sumitomo's Electric's Anti-Vibration X-Bar for deep-hole boring features a special dampening mechanism that eliminates chatter, resulting in extremely fine finishes and extra long tool life. Designed for extended overhangs, the X-Bar provides smooth finishes at up to 6× the length to diameter and is useful for step boring, bottom facing and copying. All X-Bars are coolant through and available with CCMT, TCMT and TPMT-style inserts in a variety of chipbreakers.

Cutting Insert With Six Edges
Sumitomo's 55-degree Sumi-Turn T-Rex triangle insert is said to be a cost-effective replacement for 55-degree DNMG. The T-Rex features six cutting edges compared to the conventional four edges. Its contoured edges result in clamping within the turning system and provide for accurate insert indexing, according to the company.

Grooving Products Perform With Wear Resistance
SumiNotch grooving insert products feature a grade EH510V with a new "V" coating, designed for wear and notch resistance. It is capable of performing continuous cuts, as well as finishing light to medium-light interrupted cuts. It can machine exotic materials, including heat-resistant steels, titanium alloys, N, Fe and Co-based alloys.

Coated Cermet For Steel Turning
The new T2000Z is said to be an excellent grade for high speed finishing in steel applications. This grade is a solution for applications where cermet is too brittle and carbide wears rapidly. It possesses very high heat resistant properties and toughness.
