The IMTS balloon, located between the Grand Concourse entrance and the West Building of McCormick Place, has been the show’s mascot since 2004. To honor the manufacturing industry, the balloon travels in a kick-off tour before the show.

This year the balloon visited the Kentucky Derby Festival in Louisville, Kentucky, the Michigan Challenge in Howell, Michigan, the Ashland BalloonFest in Ashland, Ohio, the QuickChek Festival of Ballooning in Readington, New Jersey, and the Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis before arriving in Chicago.
