VMT

The vertical mill-turn (VMT) concept blends multitasking operations, especially milling and turning, onto a single machining center based platform. This design takes vertical part processing beyond the classic VTL configuration. Although commonly associated with larger parts, VMTs actually are available in a variety of shapes and sizes and bring some distinct advantages to the shop floor.

Taking full advantage of the capabilities of these machines, though, requires efficient programming. New part setup is critical in multitasking operations, and the parts cannot be processed efficiently if they cannot be programmed quickly and accurately.
