When the Skills USA Championships are held in Kansas City, all of metalworking wins. I recently received a news release reporting the final results of this year’s competition and have attached it to the link below.

Sponsored by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills, this contest pits the best and brightest from around the country in a competition to find the Americas next master machinists. Three contests covering precision machining, and CNC turning and milling test groups of post-secondary students to find the top skills.

Industry sponsors include Haas Automation and Sandvik who supply the tools, machines and simulators used in the competition. Judges are from a wide stripe of manufacturing.

Considering the current state of American manufacturing—in which jobs are going unfilled because the skills needed don’t align with the skills many prospects have—this effort to identify the best manufacturing students is most welcome.

Please take a minute to read this press release and take a look at the winner’s photos. These may be future employees of your company.
