As Rethink Robotics Closes, Hahn Group Picks Up Sawyer Technology

As part of the transaction, Hahn Group has acquired all patents and trademarks of Rethink Robotics as well as its software platform, Intera5.

Rethink Robotics, creator of the Sawyer collaborative robot, has shuttered; but meanwhile, Germany-based Hahn Group, a former Rethink Robotics distributor, has acquired the company’s technologies. As part of the transaction, Hahn Group has acquired all patents and trademarks of Rethink Robotics as well as its software platform, Intera5.

Hahn Group intends to further develop the technology, with the goal of combining this technology with German engineering. In addition, Hahn Group intends to make the software platform available to suitable partners through licensing or other arrangements.

“The acquisition of Rethink Robotics’ technology marks an important milestone for the development of our portfolio of collaborative robotics solutions,” says Thomas Hähn, CEO of Hahn Group. “This transaction will bring us not only a boost in innovative technologies but also access to highly specialized knowhow in one of the most dynamic future markets. We are very pleased that we could convince the owners of Rethink Robotics to agree to the sale of its robotic technology.”

In addition to its integration business (operated by Hahn Robotics) and rental offerings (operated by Hahn RobShare), the business unit Rethink Robotics will become the third pillar of the Hahn Group’s robotic division and complete its service portfolio.
