Kuka’s KMP 1500 is an autonomously-controlled, omnidirectional mobile platform that can independently transport products through all process steps. The company’s built-in navigation system is said to eliminate the risk of collision and to enable autonomous motion of the platform without artificial markings in the production facility. The company’s Sunrise controller interfaces with the robot and enables easy extension with special equipment and sensors.
The mobile platform enables unrestricted motion in any direction with a positioning accuracy of up to ± 5 mm, the company says. It meets required safety standards for autonomous guided vehicles and accommodates payloads of up to 1,500 kg. Integrated laser scanners enhance safety.
