Justin Neumaier

Having a degree in social work doesn’t usually lead to a career in precision machining, but according to Justin Neumaier’s nominator, his social work skills have helped Justin relate and understand people at all levels and has led him to successfully manage E.J. Basler Co.’s first expansion.

“Justin took the lead with managing this new division (in 2017) and currently has 30 people reporting to him,” says his nominator, Dennis Basler, president of E.J. Basler Co. “Justin holds weekly meetings with the entire crew and is quick to recognize and celebrate successes with his team.”

Prior to becoming a manager, Justin started working at E.J. Basler as a machine operator in 2011, then rapidly moved his way through the quality, sales, purchasing, information technology and project management departments. He started on second shift, where he quickly learned how to operate production CNC lathes.

“He got our attention when he had several good ideas on how to streamline activities and increase production (after first working at the company),” Mr. Basler says. Within the year, Justin was given a position in the quality department, where he mastered the final inspection of several hundred precision metal components.

Justin has been able to see many ways to save the company money and has implemented a lean purchasing approach through material requirements planning. He also used his IT background to implement a new ERP system that led to his company’s growth, and thus its first expansion.

“Justin’s leadership skills and IT acumen have made this a very successful venture for our company,” Mr. Basler says.

Outside of work, Justin has one of the largest gardens in his neighborhood and shares his bounty with the less fortunate. Justin and his wife also take time in their busy lives to give guidance and counseling to recently married couples. He also helps lead a men’s group. “Justin has such a variety of interests and skills,” Mr. Basler says. “He is an inspiration to all that know him.”

“My desire is to build a solid culture by finding the sweet spot where people’s goals and company goals overlap,” Justin says.
