The New Castle Stainless Plate organization has hired Anthony “Tony” Palermo as regional manager. Mr. Palermo will be responsible for sales and marketing as well as market development, primarily covering the East and Midwest where a number of the millʼs key customers are located, and will be based in New Jersey.

“Tony possesses an extensive background in the metals industry, both on the producer and supplier side. He brings a unique blend of sales and marketing experience, along with an impressive background in metallurgy,” explains Frank Alvin, vice president commercial.

Mr. Palermo was previously metals industry program manager for Linde, a gas products supplier to the metals industry. He has also held positions at BOC Gases, Allegheny Ludlum, and U.S. Steel. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a bachelorʼs in metallurgy and materials science, Mr. Palermo also holds a masterʼs in metallurgy and materials science from the University of Notre Dame, and a master of business administration from the University of Pittsburgh.

“The metals industry is still a relationship-driven business. We need to be in front of our customers and Tony will be an excellent advocate and resource for our broad mix of customers including service centers, fabricators, design engineers, and end-users. Providing exceptional customer service is one of the hallmarks of New Caste Stainless Plate, and Tony is definitely capable of delivering on that promise,” notes Michael Stataczny, president.

“Although New Castle Stainless Plate is in an established industry, the company has a decidedly entrepreneurial culture with a lot of enthusiasm. This spirit, as well as the cohesive team environment, is what attracted me to this opportunity. I look forward to working with the companyʼs customers, particularly those in the industrial markets where I have experience in assisting with capital products. I started my career in the metals industry, so this position is a bit of a homecoming for me,” says Mr. Palermo.
