Solvent Systems International’s Hero bio-based, rinsable degreaser is designed to replace a variety of petroleum products in cleaning applications such as parts washing. The plant-derived solvent is 90-percent bio-based and enables parts to be wiped dry, wet-wiped or rinsed off with water, depending on finishing requirements. When the cleaner is not rinsed, it leaves a corrosion-resistant barrier on the part.

The cleaner, which is safe for aluminum, removes oil and grease, baked-on carbon stains, ink and asphalt, in addition to resins, polymers and dyes. It is said to be stronger and safer than mineral spirits, with a flashpoint greater than 266°F. It has been approved by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s BioPreferred Program and meets ASTM bio-based buying requirements for federal organizations, the company says.
