The TMZ 8/67 CNC can turn even the most complicated parts with 16 + 1 independent tool carriers, bar sizes up to 80-mm diameter or near-net shape parts with as much as 250 mm in chucking diameter. It is the only CNC multi that can turn bars as high as 3” diameter capacity because of its drive system comprised of standard 20 kW drives per spindle, which convert to 198 Nm of torque to allow also the use of quick-change CAPTO form tooling for fastest chip removal times.

Introduced to the turn-mill machine tool design in about 1996, the Y axis was first used on a single-spindle, mill-turn lathe with a subspindle. The idea of a Y axis on a CNC originated from the quality limitation of polar interpolation and the difficulty in programming, not from electronic advances in controls or servomotor technology as one might commonly think.
