QualiChem GTL-Based Oils Offer High Relative Flash Points
QualiChem offers more than 30 different GTL-based oils in a variety of viscosities and additive packages for use in Swiss-type automatics, tool grinding, high-speed milling, drilling and tapping centers, and numerous other machining and turning operations.
These oils are synthesized from natural gas and are said to be free from the typical contaminants found in crude oil, such as aromatics, nitrogen, heavy metals and sulfur. These colorless and virtually odorless oils are formulated to deliver high relative flash points in all viscosities, and foam control and quick release of entrained air. The low evaporation and low volatility of the oils reduce consumption and low misting and low odors improve workplace conditions, according to the company.
Cutting metal is a complex process involving many critical factors to be successful. Correctly applied metalworking fluids, including oils or coolant, is one of these critical factors.
As bids came in for new systems for plant automation, parts cleaning and deburring, as well as centralized coolant filtration systems for the company's engine block and head production line, Cummins found that Dürr Ecoclean could handle all three tasks.
The oils, coolants and lubricants used in metalworking shops are often overlooked as an opportunity to improve process efficiencies.
