Hydromat’s Eclipse 12-100 12-station rotary transfer machine updates previous models with a heavy casting mounted on a frame of welded steel. The machine casting is 2 m in diameter, nearly twice as large as the company’s previous 12-station machine.

The ductile iron casting is designed for the use of semi-permanent tool spindles, each with three-axis capability to eliminate the need to either change tool spindle sizes or add three-axis flanges for different cutting processes. The machine features all-electric servo spindles and slides. No hydraulics are needed for tool spindle motion, and the tool spindles are larger than previous spindles to accommodate heavier cuts and larger parts. 

The bar-fed collet version of the machine has workpiece diameters ranging to 65 mm (2.5") and features workpiece lengths ranging to 180 mm (7"), with 127 mm (5") of material outside the collet. An indexing-chuck version features a table with vertical chucks capable of 360-degree rotation of the workpiece. This system accommodates mid- to high-volume, precision production of irregularly-shaped castings or forgings, and its flexible design accommodates families of parts. The indexing chuck machine uses hydraulically-actuated, self-centering, two- or three-jaw chucks or custom clamp fixtures.
