Swistek’s SW528-Y2 Swiss-type turn-mill machine is said to bring precision, reliability and speed to shops. Whether a piece needs milling, turning, drilling, tapping, or cutting, the 2" machine design enables the main and sub-spindle to work simultaneously to eliminate secondary operations that waste production time, according to the company. The 15 hp machine holds as many as 43 tools, meaning it can complete more operations in a single cycle.

This new technology uses a laser to act as a cutting tool to "turn" parts from solid barstock. This high-speed precision turning machine is especially useful for micromachining, enabling high accuracy for small, complex parts that are often delicate and difficult to machine when implementing conventional turning processes.
