Pferd Inc.’s titanium cut burs are the latest addition to its high-performance carbide bur lineup. Titanium cut is designed for machining hard titanium alloys with tensile strength greater than 500 N/mm2, the company says.

According to the company, the cut generates stock removal rates up to 60 percent higher than conventional cross-cut burs, resulting in a milling action with reduced vibrations and noise. This can also result in longer tool life and reduced labor costs.

The cut burs have a recommended cutting speed range of 850-1,500 SFPM and are available in cutting head diameters of 3/8” with a 2-1/2” length and ½” diameter with a 2-3/4” length, the company says. Both have a shank diameter of ¼”, a rotational speed up to 14,000 rpm for the 3/8” model and 12,000 rpm for the ½” diameter size.
