MFG Tray’s fiberglass lightweight line of totes and containers are 40% lighter than standard fiberglass, but are said to offer the same strength and durability as the company’s other fiberglass container products. The Ultra-Lite totes and containers are developed by company engineers to meet customer demands for a sustainably lighter container that can withstand continuous industrial use. Customers asked for lighter, more ergonomic loads on the shop floor to save workers’ backs and for reduced weight per container to potentially lower shipping costs. In response, MFG Tray created a product made from a blend of a very light fiberglass-reinforced composite material.

The Ultra-Lite totes and containers are well-suited for machine integration and robotic applications and can be used continuously in temperatures ranging from -60° to 250° F (-51° to 121° C).

They are stackable and will not crush under heavy loading. These totes and containers are smooth inside and out with no sharp corners. They are resistant to most cutting oils, detergents, mild acids and alkaline solutions; therefore, they will not rust, corrode or rot under any conditions.

MFG Tray products — which also include nest and stack containers, wash boxes and hoppers — are molded from high-strength, glass-reinforced composites. The fiber component provides strength and dimensional stability while the plastic resin provides specific chemical, electrical and thermal properties. The physical properties for which these products are known are a result of the synergy of resin matrix and glass reinforcement. Most MFG Tray products are compression molded from the manufacturer’s sheet-molding compound. And, unlike plastic or metal, they will not dent or bend.

The MFG Tray material handling line is comprised of more than 300 different containers for general and specific processing, conveying, transporting and storing requirements. The company offers modifications such as handholds, drain holes, drop handles, grommets, casters and dollies to meet specific application needs. Wire rim reinforcement is available on certain products for added dimensional stability.
