When it comes to emerging technology for the machine tool industry, there’s no better place to see it all than the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS). If you want to catch up on the latest offerings from industry suppliers, network with business colleagues, and find solutions to your current and future needs, you have to be there. You can gain the competitive edge you need with new technologies, innovative approaches and breakthroughs to the next level.

And if you haven’t already, now’s the time to start making plans for your visit. The show’s only a couple of weeks away, running September 13 – 18 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. On August 13, individual registration increased to $50, but you can still save by signing up with a friend, both of you for the price of one registration fee. Registration for four people together is only $100, and the cost for five or more people from the same company, registering as a group, is only $15 per registrant.

The next step is to check out the exhibitor list, to start thinking about who you’d like to visit, and organize your time on the showfloor with the My Show planner. These tools allow you to arrive prepared and hit the showfloor running. There’s a lot of ground to cover, so efficient use of your time is advised. Your feet will thank you.

Given the large number of booths and the sheer magnitude of the exhibition, what is sometimes overlooked at IMTS is the Industry & Technology Conference that runs concurrently with the show (September 14 – 17, McCormick Place West). This year’s sessions explore innovative as well as revered technologies, business development and optimization, and workforce efficiency and productivity. Special emphasis is placed on maintaining focus on short- and long-term goals during a tough economic environment. Breakfast and lunch is included. Registration is $495 for the full conference and $295 for a single day and includes access to the exhibit hall for the entire show.
