Mori Seiki And DIXI In Exclusive Negotiations
Mori Seiki Co., Ltd. (Nagoya, Japan) and the DIXI Group (Le Locle, Switzerland) are in exclusive negotiations concerning DIXI machine tools.

It is Mori Seiki’s intent to purchase the DIXI manufacturing facility where machines are produced and continue the design, manufacture, distribution and service of DIXI brand machine tools. In addition, Mori Seiki intends to expand operations in Le Locle and begin the manufacturing of certain Mori Seiki machine tool models at that location. Assuming successful completion of negotiations, Mori Seiki and DIXI hope that the new Mori Seiki company will begin operations in Le Locle as early as January 2007. Akihiko Takeda of Mori Seiki will have responsibility for the management and operation of the new company.

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (Dearborn, Michigan) will continue its trade show alliance with the American Machine Tool Distributors Association (AMTDA) through 2017 for all Advanced Productivity Expositions (APEX). Currently, Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), AMTDA and AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology partner on this series of regional trade shows.
“This agreement solidifies our working relationship with both partners. It is in the best interest of the manufacturing industry and the companies that sell equipment and those that purchase the equipment to improve their production,” says Gary Mikola, director of expositions for SME.

Hexagon Metrology Inc. opened its new North American headquarters in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. The multi-purpose facility is the nationwide showcase for Hexagon Metrology’s products and technology, with two expensive demonstration rooms and two training classrooms, which conduct more than 80 software training classes each year. The company’s North American management and financial operations reside at this new location. The 58,000-square-foot facility will be used to produce Brown & Sharpe brand coordinate measurement machines (CMMs) and will serve as Hexagon’s worldwide manufacturing location for air bearings, a key component in CMMs. Visit Hexagon Metrology's PM Online Showroom.

Parlec Inc. (Fairport, New York) has named Doug Woods president of Parlec International. He will be responsible for expanding the company’s worldwide growth, specifically in the markets outside of North America.

Mr. Woods will manage the company’s current subsidiaries in England and China as well as identify and develop its operations in other high growth markets.

He is the current chairman of the board and past chairman of the custom automated systems group of AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology. He is also active in the National Tooling & Machinery Association. Visit Parlec's PM Online Showroom .

Chase Brass & Copper Company, Inc. (Montpelier, Ohio) has entered into a sublicense agreement with Concast Metal Products Company (Mars, Pennsylvania) to produce and sell Eco Brass continuous cast rod, bar and hollow bar products for the North American market. This sublicense with Concast will provide North American customers with a domestic source of continuous cast Eco Brass products. By mutual agreement, Methods Machine Tools, Inc. (Sudbury, Massachusetts) and Doosan Mecatec (Sterling Heights, Michigan) have ended their 4-year distribution agreement. Methods will no longer distribute Doosan CNC lathes and machining centers in the United States, but will continue to service Doosan machines it has sold. Visit Methods PM Online Showroom.
