When cleaning parts becomes the bottleneck of the production line, it puts both quality and profit at risk. And that’s exactly what was happening at C&M Machine Products Inc.

A streamlined version of Jenfab's Lean Clean 360 series of cellular rotating basket parts washing systems are now available. These machines thoroughly clean parts in rotating baskets using environmentally safe aqueous cleaning solutions. The combined spray, immersion and spray-under-immersion action removes chips, oils and coolants.

The Jenfab oscillating basket washer is a front loading spray washer with a 3' x 5' footprint designed as a cellular work station for lean manufacturing. This machine removes machining oils, lubricants and chips from machining operations with a 60-second cycle time.  To use the washer, the operator places the machine parts onto the carrier and starts the cycle.

The company now offers the LeanCIean 360 cellular basket aqueous parts cleaning system with basket rocking as well as full rotation. This optional feature provides variable-speed, multi-directional rocking of baskets containing parts to be cleaned. Parts now can be rocked from 5 to 60 degrees on each side of the basket centerline.

Sonotube Ultrasonic transducers are offered on the LeanCIean 360 cellular basket qqueous parts cleaning system. These 1,000 watt minimal output piezoelectric resonating transducers from Branson Ultrasonics Corporation are available at either 25 or 40 KHz frequency, depending upon cleaning energy requirements. The tube resonator is an omni-directional ultrasonic device that is designed to uniformly disperse ultrasonic cavitation into the parts as the basket rotates or articulates.

The end user must establish some rules that will guide aqueous cleaning equipment selection and system design. Several baseline factors must be defined by the end user before the cleaning system's parameters can be specified.
