Hanwha Swiss-Type Features Y2-Axis Back-Tool Unit

Hanwha Machinery America’s eight-axis XD20III and XD26III models of Swiss-type lathes represent the third generation of the company’s 20- and 26-mm-diameter machines and are equipped with a Y2-axis back-tool unit as standard. Both models are constructed using the heavier 26-mm machine frame and construction with bar stock capacity being the primary difference.

The 20-mm model features a 10,000-rpm spindle; 8,000 rpm for the 26-mm model. Both come standard with an 8,000-rpm, gear-driven subspindle and eight back-working tools (four fixed, four driven). As an option, the machines can be fitted with six back-working tools (two fixed and four driven) as well as two cross-working and two turning tools. A higher-horsepower cross-working spindle motor is also available for milling or drilling operations requiring more power to help reduce cycle times.

Sandvik Coromant Sensorized Turning Adapter Provides Real-Time Insight for Turning Operations

Sandvik Coromant’s CoroTurn Plus sensorized turning adapter is designed to provide real-time visibility, process security and scalable automation to turning operations. By making cutting forces, vibration, chatter and incut status visible as they occur, the solution can help teams stabilize performance, improve part quality and consistency as well as reduce waste.

CoroTurn Plus combines sensorized tooling with two levels of digital capability. Used with CoroPlus Viewer, it provides real-time, passive insight to support operator decisions. Used with CoroPlus Connected, the same signals enable active, machine-integrated protective actions within defined limits, helping users distinguish between visualization and automated response.

CoroTurn Plus streams live data from the cut to CoroPlus Viewer on a PC or tablet, enabling faster, data-driven decisions and traceable continuous improvement. Live visualization and reference processes support precise intervention when trends move outside defined limits. Operators receive over-limit audible alerts, can hover to inspect values and can review and flag deviations to accelerate root-cause analysis. As tool condition signals accumulate, teams can identify when an insert is approaching end-of-life and replace it at the right moment, extending tool life and avoiding unplanned downtime.

Marubeni Citizen-Cincom Turning Center Features Modular Tooling System

Marubeni Citizen-Cincom’s Cincom Series L12 Swiss turning center features Citizen’s user-friendly editing function, which utilizes multi-line multiaxis programming along with superimposed and synchronized control. The L12 is equipped with a detachable guide bushing as standard. This allows the machine to be used as a regular guide bushing type automatic lathe for long and small diameter workpieces. Once the guide bushing is removed, it can be used to machine short workpieces with less material waste.

DMG MORI Coolant System Provides Optimized Energy Efficiency

DMG MORI Co. Ltd.’s Adaptive Coolant Flow solution is designed to automatically optimize high-pressure coolant flow during machining. The function reduces excessive coolant usage while maintaining machining performance, contributing to lower energy consumption and reduced CO2 emissions.

Adaptive Coolant Flow automatically optimizes high-pressure coolant flow according to the cutting tool. The system consists of two elements: software that calculates and regulates the optimal flow rate, and a control unit on the coolant tank.

Beyond reducing energy costs and CO2 emissions, Adaptive Coolant Flow is designed to minimize mist generation and coolant evaporation in the machining area, decreasing total coolant consumption. This results in fewer refills, higher operability and stable automated production, particularly during unmanned nighttime and weekend operation.

Mastercam Software Features Accelerated Simulation, AI Assistance

Mastercam announces the release of Mastercam 2026.R2, which includes up to 10 times faster simulation and AI-enabled programming.

Mastercam 2026.R2’s simulation capabilities provide high-resolution verification without extended processing time. According to the company, shops working with complex multi-operation parts can now run through collision detection and material analysis without compromising their production schedule.

Mastercam Copilot brings AI automation to everyday programming tasks. Machinists can adjust feed rates and spindle speeds across multiple operations using voice or text commands, with confirmation prompts built in for safety. The assistant supports approximately 200 toolpath types and can build complete machine groups based on verbal descriptions. A hands-free mode, activated by the keyword “Copilot,” enables voice-controlled operation.
