As a new assistant editor for Production Machining with only a month and a half under my belt, there’s no better way to learn about the industry than seeing it firsthand. I experienced this with a recent shop visit to Positrol Workholding, and continued the education with DMG MORI’s Cincinnati Grand Opening.

The Wasino G-100 is a G series model, a gang-type automatic turning center demonstrated at DMG MORI’s Cincinnati Grand Opening.

The event is being held at the company’s 14,500-square-foot Cincinnati Technology Center on August 15-17 and features a showroom for test cuts and demos by 18 individuals, including nine in service, three in applications, and six in sales. On display are exclusive technology cycles, a live high feed demo on a local production, the CMX 1100 V vertical machining center, and a demo on the DMU 50, a five-axis universal milling machine.

Of particular interest to PM readers is the Wasino G-100 automatic turning center demonstrated at the event. This G series model is a gang-type turning center capable of finishing and hard turning, reducing cycle time by “zero indexing time.” It has the largest X-axis travel in its class, a symmetrical bed, loader/stocker systems for a range of production needs, and peripheral equipment to support diverse manufacturing environments.

All in all, the event proved to be a valuable learning experience.
