Okuma’s 2SP-150H horizontal twin spindle lathe offers high metal removal rates in a small space and can be used for small part CNC machining. According to the company, the front-facing spindles allow access to the workpiece and tooling. By adding a high-speed three-axis Okuma gantry loader, parts can be loaded and unloaded automatically. The dual spindles and gantry loader significantly reduce cycle time and maximize productivity, the company says.

The integral bed and base, cross-slide, headstock, tailstock and turret form a rigid structure. Ballscrews generate slideway movement to both axes. The horizontal twin spindle is equipped with a 6” or 8” chuck and optional 6,000 rpm spindle speed.

Chip removal and coolant control faciliate uninterrupted production. The twin spindle has no machine obstructions, so chips fall directly onto a perforated chip pan allowing coolant to flow in to the coolant tank, the company says.  An optional lift-up chip conveyor is available for large machining jobs.
