Schwanog milling cutters are well suited for milling threads and internal contours on finishing machines. They are available in different diameter sizes and numbers of teeth.
For milling of serrations, the Schwanog PWP system is well suited for applications that require high tensile strength. With its two-edged exchangeable insert, grooves can be milled with a precision of ±0.01 mm. Due to the quick-change capability of the inserts and a high changeover accuracy, machining can usually be continued immediately after a tool change without readjustment, the company says.
Schwanog’s VHM solid carbide milling cutters can be used for external gears and outside grooves — as well as for cutting specialized forms on the OD —in materials with high tensile strengths of 1,100-1,300 MPa. Depending on the tool runout, up to five cutting edges are available. Finish machining is possible directly on a machine with C-axis.
