The Thuro Companies are a sought-after source for precision component parts and assemblies. The ISO 9001-2000-certified companies serve the automotive, aerospace, linear motion, energy absorption and optics industries.

The Thuro Companies include Thuro Metal Products (TMP), which has two 25,000-square-foot buildings located in the same industrial park in Brentwood, (Long Island) New York. Together, the state-of-the-art facilities offer CNC Swiss turning, CNC turning, horizontal and vertical CNC milling and secondary machining, single- and multiple-spindle lathe capabilities and more. The Thuro Companies also include NYTEX, a Texas manufacturer of parts used in the oil service industry.

TMP was founded in 1971 by Albert Thuro, who came to the United States from Germany where he had learned the craft of machine building. Today, Mr. Thuro serves as CEO of the company and his son, Dave, is president.

Once primarily a niche supplier of precision titanium, Inconel and Monel tube fittings used on military aircraft hydraulic systems, The Thuro Companies have evolved into a business with a more commercial customer base. Today, with its zero-defect aerospace background, the manufacturer is well-qualified to produce precision parts for automotive and other quality-driven industries.

"Our diversification has taken the volatility out of our sales and has enabled us to invest confidently" says Dave Thuro. "We're now better able to weather the ups and downs of a changing economy. We're also growing significantly every year."

Both father and son are actively involved in the PMPA. "At the Management Update Conference, I get confirmation on what needs to be done and how it should be done," says the younger Mr. Thuro. "Members are very willing to help."

Albert Thuro participates in the Technical Conferences and considers networking a great catalyst for thought and action. "Participation is a two-way street," says the company founder. "Sharing our successes, and even our failures, is a wonderful thing. I have more than 55 years of experience and I welcome any PMPA member to call me with a technical problem."

Dave Thuro checks the PMPA listserves daily and has found the archives especially helpful. "If I have a specific question, I can search the archives and often find that the question has already been answered for another member. Recently, we had some machinability variation on some parts. Through the archives, I found out that we needed to have a specific sulfur content in the oil we were using. It's a great knowledge base.

"We shine when it comes to precision parts," Dave Thuro says. "But our customers not only want precision, they're looking for turnkey service. They want their parts plated, painted and assembled, so we have to be very flexible. Because we're a progressive company, we enjoy the challenges and opportunities presented to us."

The Thuro Companies are located at 21-25 Grand Boulevard North, Brentwood, NY 11717. Telephone: 800-238-3929.
