In her book, The Almost Painless ISO 9001:2000 Transition, author Denise Robitaille takes the details of the International Organization for Standardization’s new and enhanced requirements and presents them in a systematic way to educate organzations about the requirements and to facilitate internal process improvements and recordation. Part ISO primer and part practical workbook, the book is said to be the only resource needed to complete the documentation of a company’s quality initiatives and preparation for the transition audit.

New General Manager. After 28 years on the other side of the desk at manufacturing companies and another five years in software development, William R. Henning joins Henning Industrial Software (Hudson, Ohio) as general manager. He will oversee day-to-day operations, including software development and customer customization requests, customer liason and training activities, plus new customer implementation duties.

Web Site Updates. Schlitter Tool announced a new, improved Website for the screw machine industry. The site www.schlittertool.com, will deliver information about the manufacturer’s traditional product line as well as information on new products.

Webnettraining, LLC (Osseo, Minnesota) has announced a new OSHA-compliant safety and health training Web site, www.webnettraining.com.

The site for Henning Software (Hudson, Ohio), www.henningsoftware.com has a new look and is said to offer improved customer communications and easily flowing process throughout.

Henning customer software updates, user training offerings, and annual users conference information are reached in just one click from the company’s home page.

DeVlieg Bullard Inc. (Rockford, Illinois) has launched their parts outlet Web site at www.dbpartsoutlet.com. It features hard-to-find parts and offers discounts. The site includes a “What’s New” section for the latest parts additions and a “Bargain Bin” of used parts. Parts are added on a regular basis, so checking the site frequently is recommended.

Mori Seiki Announces Sales Merge. Mori Sieki (Rolling Meadows, Illinois) has announced the formation of Mori Seiki Mid-American Sales, a joint venture between Mori Seiki, U.S.A., Inc. and Yamazen Corporation. Mori Seiki Mid-America Sales will replace the existing Yamazen sales network, and will be solely responsible for the sales and service of the complete line of Mori Seiki products in the areas formerly serviced by Yamazen.

Metalworking Fluids Certification. The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) (Park Ridge, Illinois) board of directors voted unanimously to approve recommendations for a formal program to certify metalworking fluid experts. The recommendations came from the STLE blue ribbon ad hoc committee, which is chaired by John Burke, director of engineering services at Houghton International, Fluidcare Division.

New President And CEO Of Index Corp.
Mr. Olaf Tessarzyk has been appointed president and CEO of Index Corporation. Index Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Index-Werke Gmbh & Co. KG, a leading German builder of machine tools, including production turning machines.

Mr. Tessarzyk has experience in both machining, and machine tools. He is a former president and CEO of Gehring, a builder of honing machine tools for the automativeindustry.
